APT Events

The Association of Parents and Teachers (APT) periodically have events that need volunteers along with the chairperson to set-up, serve refreshments, make phone calls, send in bake goods and help clean-up.  Here is an explanation of each event.   

Welcome Dinner for Prep and Freshmen Parents -- Max and Carol Ernst
Assist set-up, serve and clean up.  Several volunteers needed.   Donations of desserts are also needed. 

Magazine Sale -- Sheree Rodgers  markrodgers1@fuse.net
Assist in collecting and calculating orders for at least two hours on the mornings.   At least 3 volunteers are needed for the final turn-in day. 

Family Picnic -- Joy and Kelly King  john002@fuse.net
The all-school family picnic for all students and their families.  What a great way to meet and talk with CLS families in an informal setting!  Volunteers will rotate with other volunteers in preparation of food and serving so that we can all enjoy the picnic.

Parent-Teacher Conference Faculty Dinners -- Traci Clancy  tclancydt@aol.com
Conferences begin at 5 pm.  The faculty breaks for dinner at 6:30, giving the parents a chance to have refreshments and attend an open APT meeting.   Conferences resume at 7 pm until 8:30 pm.  Volunteers are needed to plan, fix and serve the faculty their meals. 

Mother's Breakfast   -- David Waters   davidwaters@fuse.net
Dad's need only apply!!  The Mother's Breakfast is an opportunity for mothers and CLS students to come together beginning with Mass at the Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. followed by a breakfast served by the CLS fathers.   This is a great time for mothers to meet their child's new friends and their mothers. 

Junior Ring Ceremony Reception  -- Carol Barbara   c.barbara@insightbb.com
A reception is held after the Junior Ring Ceremony.   Parents are needed to set -up, serve refreshments, and clean up.  Baked goods are requested.  Sophomore parents sponsor this one!  

All-School Christmas Party -- Sarah Lindley  lindleyds@aol.com & Renee Chaney jrchaney@fuse.net
The junior drama class performs, the school band performs and the chorus sings.  Many volunteers are needed to furnish baked goods and appetizers and serve refreshments that evening.   Duties include contacting Jolly Old Saint Nick and Mr. Whitehead for his humorous remarks while he is handing out Christmas gifts to the faculty.  Decorating the school after the Thanksgiving break, taking down decorations, making phone calls for baked goods and appetizers, set-up, and clean-up are the other duties involved.  This party is for everyone.  Parents please bring your family.

This is for fathers and their CLS students to have a night of fun with a ping-pong or euchre tournaments, pizza, soft drinks and door prizes.  It's the mothers turn to run the show!!  Door prizes need to be purchased, signs need to be made to hang on school walls, overseers for the two tournaments, serve refreshments, set-up and clean-up. 

Catholic Schools Week
Organize activities for the week of Catholic Schools Week.  A few parents may be needed to help with activities for the week. 

Open House Reception  -- Carla Cain   carlacrum@aol.com
A reception is in the cafeteria for all prospective students and their parents.   Baked goods and refreshments are needed.  Volunteers are needed to help set-up and serve. 

Grand Event Volunteers
The Grand Event is one of the most important fundraisers for Covington Latin.  The Grand Event will be held at Receptions in Erlanger on March 7, 2009.  Go ahead and put it on your calendar.  It is a night of fun, socializing and a chance to start early shopping for Christmas presents, birthday gifts or just going shopping for you!  The cost is $75 per person.  Many volunteers are needed to make this a successful evening!  Remember this benefits your children and money raised pays for expenses not covered by tuition.  Email Sheree at markrodgers1@fuse.net.

Speech Contest/Band Concert/Art Exhibit Reception  -- Karen Cady  cady.ks@pg.com
A reception is in the cafeteria after this event.  Baked goods and refreshments are served.  No less than four parents are needed to set up, serve and clean up. 

Graduation Brunch/Graduation Reception -- Sharon & John Lang  annieboat3@fuse.net Missy Heuer  mlhinoz@fuse.net
The graduation brunch/reception has a little more work involved.  Junior parents are encouraged to be in charge.  The Brunch menu has to be selected, graduation gifts ordered, invitations ordered and mailed to parents, flowers ordered, seating arrangements for seniors and their parents, communication between the chairperson and the facility and their staff is a must, and table name tags are some of the duties involved for the brunch.  The graduation reception involves getting volunteers to help with baked goods, drinks, decorations, set-up and clean up of the school auditorium.

Garden Club -- Joanne Ellena 
The Garden Club needs volunteers to weed periodically, mulch and plant around the school grounds.

Monthly Faculty Meeting Refreshments -- Jill Ditzel   ditzel@fuse.net
Volunteers needed to provide refreshments for the monthly faculty meetings. (deliver refreshments between 1:30 - 2 pm)
