2008-09 Book List

The 2008-09 Prep and Freshman Art Supply List and Guidelines are below the Book Lists

Books listed are priced for new ones.   If you buy them used, a suggestion is if the book was only used one year, ask 1/2 cost of listed new book price or 3/4 cost if book is in good condition.  If second year, ask 1/3 (or 1/2) of listed new book price.  Thereafter, go on the condition of the book.    Another suggestion is to write in the book what you paid for it this year then you will know what to ask for next year.  Also, set up an agreement to continue to purchase your used books from the same person year after year.  It makes life a lot easier come next August.

Always check the book list before buying anything new or used.  Try to buy your used books before Book Days.  Use your carpool list to make contacts with other students.

**Art supplies will be provided in the classroom, however, students will need supplies to complete homework assignments or to finish projects if they become behind.  Also, some students prefer to use their own supplies in class, so that they are in control of the quality and/or do not have to wait on a particular color, etc.

Freshman:  Each freshman is required to start a file of colored paper -- grouped in the different colors.  This paper may include old wrapping paper, magazine pages cut apart, envelopes from cards, wallpaper samples, etc., etc...  It should NOT be a packet of construction paper.  The purpose of the project will be the creation of a work of art from recycled paper products found in everyday use.  THIS COLLECTION WILL BE DUE AT A LATER DATE.  HOWEVER, BEGIN COLLECTING NOW!!!

Each freshman also needs to begin a collection of found objects for a future project.  Objects may include old gears, wire, old actions figures, Hot Wheel cars, plastic toys, old candles, etc.  These are NOT to be bought new just for this art project.  They could be old things in a basement or attic, or cheap things found at a flea market.  More information will be given later in the school year.   BEGIN COLLECTING NOW!!
