Academic Assistance

Covington Latin School strives to make sure every student excels but sometimes assistance is needed.  Here are two ways that we can assist your child.

Mentor Center is a daily set of sessions, run before and after school, which students may attend for a variety of reasons.  With prior planning, students may receive help from a mentor at Mentor Center if they are having difficulty with a subject or teachers may recommend Mentor Center if the student's homework is not done.  And, if the student is looking for a quiet place to get a bit of studying done, this is the the place to be.  On a typical day, Mentor Center sessions meet in Room 204 and are held before school from 7:30 - 8 am and then again from 3:10 - 4 pm.

Tutorial is a weekly session run during the school day.  Each Wednesday during 7th period, classes shut down and "tutorial" is scheduled.  For a variety of reasons, students may be signed-up by their teacher to attend that teacher's tutorial.  Tutorials are sometimes led by the teacher, but often the structure allows for peer assistance with the teacher overseeing the instruction.  The period is divided into two sessions with each being 22 minutes in length.
