Latin's numerous clubs, organizations, and societies help students discover or further develop skills and interests that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. CLS offers a wide variety of clubs and organizations, from academic and service organizations to special-interest and athletic clubs. Students are encouraged to contact the faculty to create their own clubs if their interests lie beyond those currently offered.
Academic Team
Academic competition provides a public forum to showcase academic excellence and places academic achievement in a position of prestige. Through local and regional competition, members are able to represent the academic proclivity and advancement for which our student body is uniquely known. CLS has teams in Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman levels and is also a member of the Northern Kentucky Academic League. Adviser: Ms. Patton
Art Club
The Art Club meets weekly to participate in student-selected visual art endeavors, ranging from pencil sketch portraits of their favorite teachers to developing your own comic strip. Artists of all abilities are welcome to join this enthusiastic group in weekly, after-school meetings. Adviser: Mr. Goodmonson
Band*
This ensemble group performs in a variety of events both on campus and in visiting performances. Students study the elements of music, from practice technique to ensemble skills and much more. The CLS Band largely serves as a platform for students to showcase the skills they have developed outside the classrooms. Students are strongly encouraged to take concurrent lessons privately. Bowling Club
This recreational group, while about developing hand-eye coordination and the balance between power and finesse, is primarily about students enjoying themselves with their classmates and a bit of friendly competition. Students of all abilities are encouraged to join. Adviser: Mr. Krebs
Chess Club
The Chess Club offers a forum for people to meet, discuss but principally, to play chess. Boards and pieces are provided for recreational play at all meetings. The club also acts as a resource for those interested in learning chess. All levels of play are welcome from novices to experts. Adviser: Mr. Knapp
Choir
The award-winning Covington Latin School Choir performs in our weekly Mass in the St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, as well as in numerous other events on campus and in visiting performances. An impressive number of students of all ages perform both in the group and in supporting instrumental music. All interested students are encouraged to join, regardless of previous experience. The Dardanian
Charged with developing the annual yearbook, The Dardanian, members seek to record and present the events of the school year in a meaningful, comprehensive and visually appealing manner. Members develop desktop publishing, editorial, design and proofreading skills in addition to deepening their understanding of the many facets of CLS. Adviser: Mr. Goldfuss
Drama Club
Virtually all students participate in Junior and Senior Drama but this group has been introduced for Freshmen and Sophomores interested in developing or pursuing interest in dramatic arts. Performances range in scope and are performed both on campus and as visiting productions. Under faculty direction, students manage all aspects of stage production. Adviser: Mr. Krebs
Interact Club
A combination of the words international and action, Interact Club has a service-based agenda of advancing international understanding and goodwill by engaging in projects ranging from donation of relief supplies to natural disaster victims to purchasing books for needy children and community service works to the underprivileged. Junior Classical League (J.C.L.)
As the second largest student organization in the country, JCL's purpose is to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart an understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of Classical antiquity. The League is open to any student enrolled in
Latin coursework and offers activities ranging from museum field trips, to state and national conventions. From Roman celebrations to oratory and costume contests, JCL offers a variety of fun and educational activities throughout the year. Advisers:

Lit Guild, as it's commonly called, provides an opportunity to develop and pursue an interest in creative writing. Peer Counselors
Peer Counselors are faculty-approved volunteers, usually possessing strong leadership qualities, who give their personal time to help to provide the friendly, caring atmosphere that our new students need, particularly in their first semester. Each incoming student is paired with an experienced Form III or IV Peer Counselor to help smooth the way by answering questions, watching for adjustment difficulties and general support in the transition. Pontifical Servers
Covington Latin School students have the privilege and honor to assist the Bishop of Covington as his
Pontifical Servers. Our reverent young men and women serve at the Bishop's Sunday Masses, Lenten observances, Christmas Masses, the ordinations of priests and deacons, and the many Pontifical celebrations of the Mass. In service to the Bishop, the students come to realize that they are serving the people of the Diocese, as well. Adviser:

Pro-Life Club
This group consists of individuals with a deep-rooted concern for the consistent ethic of life. The club encourages our school community to be aware of the many issues facing human life today. Activities include commitment to life through personal prayer, service and witness to pro-life beliefs and also organizes and participates in multiple events including the March of Life in Washington, D.C. Senior Drama
Nearly all Form IV students electively participate in the Senior performance, which ranges from year to year in scope and genre. Students stage their production in the world-class
Carnegie Theatre, offering them an opportunity to share the same stage commanded by William Jennings Bryan 100 years ago, complete with state-of-the-art technological amenities of the modern era. Aspiring thespians and those less dramatically inclined are encouraged alike to join. This group offers something for everyone. Adviser:

The Student Council is the voice of the student body. The purpose of this organization is to provide a vehicle for students to express their beliefs and opinions concerning various aspects of school life and offer suggestions for changes they deem appropriate. T.E.A.M.S. (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science)
T.E.A.M.S.
participates in a national competition challenging students to apply
math and
science to solve real-world engineering scenarios. Participation in T.E.A.M.S. fosters creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The CLS chapter of T.E.A.M.S. perpetually places in the top 25 high school teams in the nation. Adviser:
