Steve and Cathy's CLS Experience

We have had the pleasure of being closely affiliated with Covington Latin for a number of years. Our oldest daughter graduated in 2006 and is currently enrolled at Northern Kentucky University on a full academic scholarship with plans for graduate studies. Our second daughter will graduate in 2009. The School has been a wonderful experience from our first visit to this day.

Covington Latin offered our girls a chance to be the “smart girl” without feeling like she was an oddity. Here, all the students were gifted with the desire to learn and to achieve to the best of their ability. Everyone encouraged each other to do their best.

At times they complained mightily! But much more importantly, their actions almost always bespoke kids that were crazy about the whole deal: the faculty, the friendships, the athletics, the relationships, the highs and lows, the papers, the sincere caring.

Accomplishments are recognized and celebrated together in the school community. Activities for students and families create a sense of belonging. Wouldn’t it be great to work exclusively with really smart people? That is the educational environment of CLS; an outstanding, bright group of students and administration. CLS is excellent, urban and diverse.

We enter this last year with mixed emotions: very proud of our daughters and very sad because it will end our connection with the day-to-day activities of the School. The teachers and administration here feel like family-which may be why so many students (and parents) come back to visit with regularity. We will.
