As part of the college preparation process, students will take a series of standardized tests, including the PSAT® (preliminary SAT I), PLAN® (preliminary ACT) SAT I® (Scholastic Aptitude Test), ACT® (American College Test) and various AP® (Advanced Placement) examinations.  To consult with our staff on the various testing options available to you, please contact Ms. Rueger. 

The PSAT® is taken twice, once for practice purposes by Sophomores in October and again by Juniors in October, offering a preview for the SAT I® and an opportunity to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship competition.  The PLAN® is administered once, in late October of Sophomore year.  Registration and payment are completed by CLS for both and results are retained in the student's record and are not forwarded except in the event a student qualifies to become a National Merit Scholar or if a student requests for special programs.

The SAT I® and ACT® should be taken by Juniors in June; registration forms for standardized testing are available on the sites below and additional information will be sent in our monthly newsletter.  Practice examinations and preparatory materials are available in the College Center Office and the School Library; please consult the college handbook for additional preparation suggestions.

ACT® Preparation Classes

In May, Covington Latin School offers ACT® preparation classes for Juniors. Information will be sent in April regarding registration information and fees.
