Parent Mini-Schedule
This gives you (parents) the opportunity to meet your child's teachers and find out what is expected of your child in that class.  You will follow a Wednesday school schedule.

Junior Parents -- Class Ring Information
Information will be sent home with your junior to order the class ring early in the school year.  The actual ceremony is the end of November or the beginning of December.  The order date will be a few days after the information comes home.  Many options are available but some items on the ring are standard -- green stone only, one side of the ring is standard but the other side may have anything of interest to the student on it (soccer ball, basketball, baseball, etc.).  Different metals can also be chosen -- gold, etc.  A down-payment is taken with the balance due when they are delivered at school in November.  Ring order date is on the school website and on the monthly calendar mailed to you.

Family Picnic
An annual event for for parents to get to know each other.  Bring your own drinks, chairs and a dish to share.  Your whole family is invited.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Three times a year after mid-term grades are mailed, there are parent-teacher conferences a few days later.  No appointments.  Just come from 5 - 6:30 or 7 - 8:30 pm on the specific day.  (An APT business meeting is scheduled from 6:30 - 7 pm each night while the teachers are having dinner.)  There will be a listing when you arrive at school of where the teachers are located.  You will stand or sit outside the classroom door to wait your turn to visit with the teacher.  These conferences should last only 5 minutes.  If you think it will be longer, this is the time to set up an appointment time to meet with the teacher at a later date.  At any time during the school year, you may email or phone the teacher with questions about your student.

Senior Graduation Orders
The same company that handles our class rings also handles our graduation announcements.  Those orders are placed in October with delivery after the new year.  Your senior will bring home the order form.   Order date will be posted on the website and on the monthly calendar mailed to you.  This is your only opportunity to order graduation announcements so figure out how many people you will be sending them to (they are usually in packages of 25).  Each senior will receive graduation tickets in May for the actual graduation.  Don't let this opportunity pass you by.

Senior Portraits
Girls wear drapes for their "head" shot for the composite picture and guys will be furnished with a tux jacket and shirt.  There is a plug available in the first floor restroom if the girls want to curl their hair.  Girls may wear necklaces (pearls, etc.) in the photo.  You will receive four proofs of the graduation picture.  Orders for a small version of the class composite picture plus the picture that is taken in the Cathedral right after graduation will be offered at a later date.

Mother's Breakfast
Mass at 10 am at the Cathedral for mothers and their CLS students.  Immediately following Mass, a breakfast is served by the fathers at the school.
Reservations required.

Junior Ring Ceremony
A nice ceremony held in late Fall for all juniors (whether they purchased a class ring through Graduate Services or through another jewelry store) and their parents.  Reception immediately follows in the school cafeteria.

Whole School Christmas Party
A Junior Drama Production (usually a short Christmas play), a few selections from the jazz band and the CLS chorus will sing.  Then a visit from Ole' St. Nick himself at the reception in the school cafeteria.  Your whole family is invited to attend.  It is an enjoyable and fun evening for all!

Exams
Exams are scheduled before Christmas Break in December and again at the end of the school year in May.  Times are 8 am - 12:30 pm for the three days.  Free refreshments are available between the two exams each day (milk, juice, fruit, donuts).  However, the students will need to bring their lunch for the last day of school before Christmas Break since school will be in session until 2:30 or so.

Phonathon
The Covington Latin School Academic Advancement Fund phonathon is held for five nights in January.  This is the major fundraiser for the school.  Donations received from this help fund the financial assistance program for our students and future students and other projects this school year.  At least six parents are needed to help with phone calls on those five nights.

Father's Night
Now it is the mom's turn.  Father's Night is scheduled after the first of the year for father's and their CLS student.  Euchre and ping pong tournaments, pizza, drinks, etc. are the plan for the evening.  Just show up that evening and have a fun time!

Grand Event
The Grand Event is the second largest fund-raiser for the school.   Parent Gift Gathering parties for each of the classes are held in the Fall.  Theme baskets for each class are made up from the donations received by the parents.   A $10,000 raffle, silent and oral auction items, Key Club for a chance on a beautiful piece of jewelry, appetizers, dinner, dessert, margarita fountain, beer, wine and soft drinks and dancing will all be offered that evening.  Mark your calendar now for March 10, 2007 at Receptions Banquet Center in Erlanger.  More information to follow.

Sports Banquet
This event is held in early May honoring all of our students involved in the school sports' programs throughout this school year.  A dinner is served then each team is introduced by their coach.  Sports bars are given to each student on each team who are in attendance.  This event is sponsored by the Athletic Boosters.  Reservations are a must.  Student athlete and coaches receive a complimentary meal -- rest of family is an additional charge.  Information and reservation form will be sent home in the April calendar mailing.  The Sports Banquet is held in the NKU cafeteria.

Speech Contest, Band Concert and Art Exhibit
