The best way for prospective students to learn about Covington Latin is to be a Trojan for the day! Current 5th-8th graders are invited on campus for a first-hand look into a typical day at our school. They will attend classes with a Covington Latin Student Shadow Host, eat lunch with new friends, and get the chance to tour the campus, meet teachers, and ask any questions.
All Shadow days start at 7:45 am where you will meet your student host and end at 3 pm back in the front office to meet your parents for pick up!
Scheduling your shadow day is easy. Simply click HERE to select a day that works best for your family.
*Please note for booking purposes to limit the number of students we have shadowing per day, you will select a time that is available that morning, but ALL Shadow Day Experiences start at 7:45 am regardless of time selected. Your booking will show a duration of 1 minute; note all pick-ups are at 3 pm.
Top Tips for a Successful Shadow Day Visit
Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask too many questions; that’s how you learn more about CLS and how you fit in. You’ll also uncover exciting info on classes, friends, sports, traditions, or clubs.
Be yourself. Once you walk through our doors, you’re part of the CLS family. Introduce yourself to those you meet in class or chat with at lunch. You may meet someone who could be your friend or mentor.
It is okay if you don’t understand what’s happening in class. Your student host may be doing things in class that you haven’t learned yet. Just soak it all in and participate if you know the answer.
Get to know your host. You and your host probably have many things in common! The more you get to know your host and their friends, the more familiar faces you will see in the halls ready to say hello next year.
Have fun! This is the most important tip! Enjoy your time here and start to see yourself as part of the Covington Latin community!
