College Exploration
College exploration will be a strategic focus on Essendi Days for our upperclassmen.
Through workshops designed for our Form III and Form IV students and in addition to individualized advising on topics like college visits and course sampling, students receive focused support as they explore colleges and navigate an individualized admissions process.
Students will engage in the college application process, work on the development of their application and scholarship essays, plan their scholarship and financial aid journeys, and prepare/study for the ACT/SAT.
This multi-prong approach to college exploration provides students and families with the knowledge, organization, and confidence needed to identify the college or university that is the best fit for them, and to successfully prepare for the next step in their educational journey.
Career Exploration
Through our extensive alumni network, Covington Latin School is able to introduce our students to the community and the workforce, providing them with real-world experiences. Because all experiences contribute to the overall development of a student, we want to encourage students to explore different career paths that match their personal aspirations. Our students have the option to engage with the following careers:
- Law
- Medicine
- Biology
- Technology
- Higher education
- Non-profit organizations
- Marketing/Communications
- And more!
Each student chooses what works best for them during their Career Explorations time!
- Students in Forms II-IV will also have the opportunity to seek outside internships in their desired field.
- Students in Prep 7, Prep 8, and Form I will have the option to engage as a group with a professional over a series of weeks on a larger-scale project that gets them engaged in their field.
Whether students attend their internship in-person or work with a professional through a designated class, students gain real-world experience and showcase the skills they learned throughout their years at Covington Latin School.
